I loved this book

I must admit I almost didn't buy this book. I really don't like books that cost $8.99. I buy over $100 worth of kindle books a month so I like good value for my money. Well let me tell you this book is well worth the money.. it is worth twice the price!!! I loved how this book took you along with Lucas as he discovered how to be a true Alpha Werewolf's dominent. Then when you were least expecting it showed how they bonded and fell in love. Noah was so strong and forceful, yet fell belly up to Lucas in all things. It was quite a trip before they became mates and lovers... This book has 6200 locations so it really gives you back story into werewolves, it all came together so perfectly. This has become my new favorite M/M romance. I usally don't care much for military books ,but Kendall McKenna has changed my mind. I will be reading all her books now!

Werewolf and military culture clash

I have always loved stories where two people of different cultures try to work together and understand each other. In this case the two cultures are the military culture and the werewolf culture.
Lieutenant Lucas is assigned Sergeant Noah who is a True Alpha. The military culture is very believable with the realistic lingo and competent and incompetent leadership to deal with. Lucas is unfamiliar with werewolves in general and True Aphas are rare enough that there is very little public knowledge about them. Lucas does not get the required training on working with werewolves but does get some good pointers and his normal style of doing marches with the men vs riding along in a Hummer build respect in the werewolves.
Because Noah is a natural leader Lucas put him in the position of Team Lead. This puts them in a partnership leading their men. But partnership involves more than he expects with a werewolf. He needs to learn how body language, touch and sex are necessary parts of relating to a werewolf. He doesn't want to take advantage of his position as a leader over a subordination but at the same time Noah needs him to be dominant in their relationship. And for Noah that dominance includes a sex.
Lucas finds himself in a role as Dominant to a True Alpha which is a rare and legendary bond. He doesn't know half of what it means. And is surprised by the changes in how people treat him and their new expectations of him.
Lucas is a good leader and he feels it is his job to take care of his men. The tension of being in battle situations and the tension of trying to figure out what a True Alpha needs add to the intensity of the story.
Very nice world building and believable characters. Nice length at 6369 kindle locations. There is a hint that a side character will get his own book and I look forward to it

M/M, Shifters, Military Men = Hell Yeah!

Really good shifter novel with some things that are a constant, an alpha, pack bonding, shift and run at full moon etc but some other things unique to this writer's world - war zone shifts to take out insurgents, pressure shifts, heightened smell used as a combat add-on, a True Alpha that submits to a human, and more.
Strong writing and an interesting premise. Good use of military jargon, nice use of wolf shifters, strong men, well-rationed eroticism and interesting world building all add to a rivetting read. The use of first person perspective worked well as you got to see how Lucas developed feelings, his role as a conduit between shifters and the Marines, why he might be unsure of Noah's feelings - was it the shift needs, or was it more? Nice book length to get you into the series and the development of the characters. Although an intitial attraction is there there are no instant declarations of love, rather a build as one of the characters learns about being a human Dominant of a Werewolf Alpha, fitting into his role in the pack, and how that affected his role in the Marines. Lucas also had to deal with issues as an officer with an NCO which went against standard training, but standard training's different when there's Werewolves in your command.
I found this to be a real epage turner. I can't wait for more in the series. I really enjoyed The Strength of the Pack. A mighty fine read!
