All is going well until the ride home: Mick finds himself waking up prematurely, long before arriving in Earth orbit. He’s floating in dead space. Not only has he woken from cryo early, but he’s not aboard his black hull vessel any longer: he’s in an escape pod with only enough power for several more hours of life-support. It is Mick waking up that begins the first episode in the Black Hull serial novel. The fast-paced writing, the mystery of what happened to his crew, and Mick’s panic-stricken quest to stay alive in a strange future and get back home to his family creates an incessant need for readers to devour each new episode in this serialization. The action of the plot is interwoven with riveting flashbacks that depict Mick’s mistakes leading up to the loss of his marriage and the murder of his wife’s lover. Mick’s is a story of a man grappling with regret, clinging to a far-fetched hope that somehow, things can be made right again, despite man’s known laws of physics.

Things Are Picking Up Now...

I enjoyed episode one and dove right in to episode two. It was interesting to see how the story starts to expand here. It's more than just a guy, a human nonetheless, stuck in space with little understanding of what he has missed in cryosleep. We also find that things have happened with humanity (which could effect Mick's own family), that Utopia may exist, and that technology has advanced in some amazing ways. I enjoy the relationship between Mick and XJ; reminds me of quite a few different Human/Robot pairs from other sci-fi movies and television shows. On to number three to see what is next for Mick!

Specific humor

Form this sample (episode 1 and 2) I can describe this book as sf comedy. Maybe it is not intentional, but I can't described it differently. The plot and situations are rather totally unbelievable but I don't suppose it is a flaw in this type of book. If one likes such specific humor than this book can be very good.
I wasn't dissatisfied but wasn't satisfied enough to buy the rest episodes, too.

A great read in an unexpected dimension. Definitely food for progressive and open thinkers.

A different spectrum of sci-fi. Turkot utilizes an imagination wild with visions of past and future yet has trouble with the characters, oe Bots of the present. I was hooked on Vol 1, enjoyed Vol 2, and look forward to more. My own writing is more earthbound and traditional as in my latest "Hot Dive" and "The Rum Runner" .
