This was an excellent resource to add to the book. It was very good at describing the characters, the scenes and the meanings behind the story. I highly recommend this for anyone who has a hard time reading literature that is full of old timey language.

Worth reading with the Odyssey

The notes and analysis are beneficial for getting more out of the Odyssey than simply a simple reading. While useful, they are, by design, brief and barely scratch the surface of the complexity of the Odyssey. I would recommend reading each chapter in MAXNotes prior to reading the chapter in the Odyssey for first time readers of the Odyssey simply to get a better grasp of the Odyssey and thus enjoy it more.

If you are a teacher Max notes are the only study guide that has quizzes for each chapter. They are great for reading check quizzes but they are mostly Blooms Level 1 and 2
